Fasting Requirements for Laboratory Testing

Some medical laboratory tests or specimen collection require that you fast (nothing to eat or drink except water) for a period of time prior to the test.

The NDSU Student Health Service Laboratory requires the following:

• 12 hour fast prior to Lipid Profile and Triglycerides testing
•   8 hour fast for Fasting Glucose testing
