Brent Parmer, M.S.
Associate Director of Fitness Programs

Brent ParmerAs a 1996 graduate of NDSU, Brent earned a degree in Corporate and Community Fitness with a health and coaching minor. He went on to receive a Master's degree in Human Performance/Exercise Physiology from the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse in December of 1997. Brent was an Exercise and Sports Physiologist at MeritCare Sports Medicine for three years before coming to NDSU in June of 2001.

During Brent's career, he has performed fitness assessments, written exercise programs and has been a personal trainer to all kinds of individuals with wide ranges of abilities. Brent has also been active in helping the men's and women's track and field programs at NDSU, serving as the Long Jump/Triple Jump coach. He was a seven-time All-American for the Bison in the jumps and sprints from 1992-1995. Brent is currently working toward his doctorate in Human Development at NDSU.

Tara Roberts, B.S.  
Coordinator of Fitness and Training

Tara RobertsAs a 2002 graduate of St. Cloud State University, Tara earned a degree in Exercise Science. She went on to specialize in Aquatics and Post Rehab Conditioning. Tara worked as the Aquatics Rehabilitation Director for the Fairview-University Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN and as a Post Rehab Specialist/Personal Trainer for Gold's Gym in Sartell, MN prior to coming to NDSU in August of 2005.

During Tara's career, she has conducted many fitness assessments, and written a variety of fitness/rehabilitation programs for both land and H2O! Tara enjoys working as part of a team, creating a higher quality of life for others through health and wellness.

Tressa Kurtz
Student Coordinator

Tressa Kurtz
Tressa is a senior majoring in Exercise Science. She is interested in the areas of kid's fitness and the growing problem of childhood obesity. She has worked with children at TNT Kid's Fitness and Gymnastics Academy as a fitness instructor. She is certified in CPR/AED and First Aid.

After graduation, Tressa plans to work with children of all ages and help them grow into healthy and happy adults with the knowledge to stay that way. Her favorite inspriational quote is "If you don't do what's best for your body, you're the one who comes up on the short end." - Julius Erving

John Honl
Student Coordinator

j_honlJohn is a senior in the Human Performance and Fitness and Sports Managment. This is his first year as a fitness specialist.

John is interested in all areas of personal wellness. After graduation he would like to pursue a career as a wellness facility director or in a management position.

One of John's favorite quotes is "Do not tell me what you are going to do, but show me what you have done."

Jesse Dunn
Student Coordinator

Jesse DunnJesse is a senior majoring in Human Performance and Fitness and Psychology. She is a Wallman Wellness Center certified personal trainer and as her ASEP Coaching certification.

Jesse played volleyball, basketball and soccer in high school and coached elementary and middle school athletics. After college she hopes to get a Masters in Sport Psychology work with elite athletes.

Her attitude is reflected in this quote from Lao Tzu, "A leader is best when people barely know he exists, when his work is done, his aim fulfilled, they will say 'We did it ourselves.'"

Lucas OdegardLucas is a sophomore majoring in Exercise Science and Business Administration. He is CPR certified and his area of interest is Personal Training. After graduation, he hopes to open his own fitness center.

Nick Kindelspire
(Fitness Specialist)

Nick KindelspireNick is a senior majoring in Athletic Training and wants to work with injury prevention and management. He is a Certified Professional Rescuer. His minor is Spanish. His hobbies include fishing, sports and riding his bike.

After graduation, Nick plans to attend grad school in Physical Therapy. His favorite inspirational quote is "It is hard to fail, but it is worse never to have tried to succeed." - Teddy Roosevelt

Chris Hoffarth
(Personal Trainer)


Chris HoffarthChris is a senior majoring in Athletic Training. His areas of interest are endurance training, powerlifting and bodybuilding. After graduation, Chris plans to enroll in the Physician Assistant program at Augsburg College.

Chris's believes that the only way to get anywhere is to work hard and never give up. His favorite inspirational quote is "People do not lack strength, they lack will."

John Logeais
(Fitness Specialist)

John LogeaisJohn is a sophomore majoring in Human Performance and Fitness. He is interested in the field of Physical Therapy. He is CPR/AED certified. After graduation John hopes to pursue a career in physical therapy or post-rehab training.

John's favorite piece of advice is: the difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength or a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack in will.

Kimberly Stangl
(Fitness Specialist)

Kim StanglKim is a third year student majoring in Exercise Science and Dietetics. She is certified in CPR and First Aid.

Kim grew up on a farm and is interested in nutrition and exercise psychology. Her post graduation plans are stiill open, but she wants to pursue a career in the health and fitness field.

Kim's favorite quote is "Regret for wasted time is just more wasted time."

Andy Koch
(Fitness Specialist)

Andy KochAndy is a junior majoring in Exercise Science with a minor in Coaching. His area of interest is in Personal Training and Group Exercise.

After graduation he plans to move to a warmer climate and open an exercise facility and/or work with athletes.

Brad OgleBrad is a senior majoring in Exercise Science with a minor in Business Administration. He is CPR, First Responder, Evaluation certified. His areas of interest are cardiac rehab and strength and conditioning training. Brad plans to intern at Velocity Sports Performance, and clinically for Cardiac Rehab.

Amber's area of interest is weight lifting and running. After graduation, she plans to coach in the areas of strength and conditioning or acceleration.

Kari Thompson

Kari is a junior majoring in Exercise Science with a minor in Psychology. She is certified in First Aid, CPR and life guard. Her previous experience includes gymnastics coaching and swimming instruction.

Kari's areas of interest are running and lifting. Her post-graduation plans are do work in Cardiac Rehab.

Carly's area of interest include personal training, sports physiology and cardiac rehab. After graduation, she plans to work with athletes on performance enhancement, or to own her own fitness center.

Cody is a sophomore majoring in Exercise Science with a minor in Pre-physical Therapy. He is CPR/AED certified.

Cody's areas of interest include powerlifting, body building and weight training. He plans to go to graduate school.

Marc Dusek (Fitness Specialist)

Marc DusekMarc is a sophomore majoring in Exercise Science with a minor in Business Administration. He is a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity.He is certified in CPR/First Aid.

Marc's areas of interest include personal training and group exercise. His plans after graduation are to work in a gym setting as a personal trainer.

Matt Moeller (Fitness Specialist)

Matt MoellerMatt is a freshman majoring in Exercise Science and Dietetics. He has been lifting since the age of 12 and is interested in strength and mass training and nutrition.

After graduation he would like to own his own gym. Matt's favorite inspirational quote is "Go hard or go home."

Joe Champa (Fitness Specialist)

Joe ChampaJoe Champa is a senior majoring in dietetics and Spanish with minors in business administration and food service.

Joe has been to Guatemala four times with the God’s Child project, where he worked on food and clothing distribution and helped the local people build homes.

In his spare time, Joe enjoys snowboarding, bodybuilding, football and racquetball. After graduation, he plans to attend graduate school in
the area of sports nutrition.

Lauren Semenko (Fitness Specialist)

Lauren SemenkoLauren is a sophomore majoring in Exercise Science with a minor in Community Health. She is a member of National Honor Society. Her previous experience includes teaching dance.
